Farnham sits at the far western edge of Surrey, almost on the Hampshire border, and on a map it looks a long way from Heathrow. On the road it is not. Heathrow is 29.2 miles from Farnham station and the drive is about 36 minutes, because the town is a short run from the M3, and the M3 and a few junctions of the M25 take a car almost to the terminals.
Clocktower Cars runs pre-booked taxis, minicabs and executive cars from Farnham — the town centre, Hale, Badshot Lea, Wrecclesham, Rowledge, Tilford and Frensham — to all five London airports and on longer local journeys, with the price agreed before you travel. Farnham is in the borough of Waverley, which is one of the seven authorities our drivers and vehicles are licensed by, and our nearest office is at Station Approach in Godalming. Call 01372 747 747, the Godalming office on 01483 422 222, or book online.
These figures were measured on 17 October 2026 from Farnham station (GU9 8AD), using the route and drive-time estimate Google Maps gave at the time. They are a guide: a 4am departure will usually beat them and a Friday afternoon on the M25 will not.
| Airport | Distance | Typical drive | Main road |
|---|---|---|---|
| Heathrow | 29.2 miles | about 36 minutes | M3 |
| Gatwick | 43.5 miles | about 48 minutes | M25 |
| Luton | 59.9 miles | about 1 hour 5 minutes | M25 |
| London City | 73.7 miles | about 1 hour 26 minutes | M25 |
| Stansted | 88.8 miles | about 1 hour 31 minutes | M25 |
Godalming is about the same distance from Heathrow as Farnham — 30.2 miles against 29.2 — and takes around eleven minutes longer, because it heads up the A3 to the M25 while Farnham joins the M3. Surbiton, less than half the distance away at 11.4 miles, takes roughly the same 36 minutes through Hampton Court and the A308. Distance alone tells you very little about an airport run, which is why we quote each journey rather than publishing a rate per mile.
Gatwick is 43.5 miles and about 48 minutes from Farnham by the M25. It is the journey from Farnham most affected by the time of day, because it uses one of the busiest sections of the orbital. For an early flight, book a pick-up that allows for the M25 at the hour you will actually be on it, not the hour you would like to be.
For a 7am departure from Terminal 5 you will want to be at the terminal around 5am, which means leaving Farnham at about 4:15. At that hour 36 minutes is comfortable. The point of booking is that the car is outside before you have locked the door: a private hire car cannot be hailed, so the booking is what guarantees the car.
Clocktower Cars is a licensed private hire operator, not a hackney carriage firm. You cannot flag one of our cars down in Castle Street or find it waiting on a rank; every journey is booked in advance through the office. The benefit is a price agreed before the car moves: the office sees the whole journey first — address, airport, terminal, luggage and time — and quotes it up front, rather than a meter adding to the fare in a queue at the M25 junction. Our operator licence is held as Epsom & Ewell Cars T/A Clocktower Cars, with drivers and vehicles licensed across Epsom and Ewell, Reigate and Banstead, Mole Valley, Elmbridge, Guildford, Waverley and Transport for London.
We do not publish a fare list, for the reasons the measured times above make plain. The full reasoning is on what decides the cost of a taxi; for a Farnham journey it comes down to these.
The M3 at 4am and the M25 at 5pm on a Friday are different roads. Night work, bank holidays and the Christmas period are priced differently because covering them costs differently.
Four people with four large cases need an estate rather than a saloon, five or six need an MPV, and eight with full luggage usually need two cars. For larger parties see eight-seater and large taxis to Heathrow.
For business travel, executive vehicles are available on request. For regular commuting into London by car rather than the Alton line, see our Farnham to London chauffeur service. Business accounts are invoiced monthly rather than paid in the car.
On the way home the driver works to the actual landing time — an early arrival is met early, a delayed one is waited for, and you are not charged for a delay the airline caused. Because a pick-up involves parking and waiting while a drop-off is a drive to the kerb, the return is quoted as its own journey. You have both prices before you travel.
Heathrow charges £7 for every entry into a terminal drop-off zone, at Terminals 2, 3, 4 and 5, around the clock, and a second entry is charged again. Gatwick charges £10 for the first ten minutes, then £1 a minute up to twenty, with a £30 daily cap. Both are the airports’ charges, not ours. Blue Badge holders can claim a 100% discount at Heathrow if it is registered against the registration of the car carrying them, and are exempt at Gatwick — tell the office when you book. Current Heathrow terms are on Heathrow’s drop-off charge page. Arrivals pick-ups do not use the drop-off zones.
Ramp-equipped wheelchair-accessible vehicles are part of the fleet, but there are a limited number of them and the morning airport rush is when they are most in demand — so book an accessible car from Farnham as far ahead as you can. Tell the office the chair type and whether the passenger travels in the chair or transfers to a seat. If the passenger holds a Blue Badge, give the details at booking so the Heathrow drop-off discount can be registered against the car. Assistance dogs travel at no extra charge.
For local journeys within the town and to Aldershot, Farnborough, Guildford and the villages, see our Farnham taxi services page. For reference, Guildford station is 10.1 miles and about 16 minutes away along the A31 over the Hog’s Back. If your Heathrow journey starts nearer Guildford or Godalming, those routes have their own measured pages: Guildford to Heathrow and Godalming to Heathrow.
The car is matched to the booking: a saloon for up to four travelling light, an estate for four with real suitcases, an MPV for five or six, an eight-seater for a group, and executive cars on request. Child seats are fitted when you give the children’s ages and weights at booking. We confirm the capacity of the vehicle rather than promising a particular make or model. Clocktower Cars is not a car hire company and does not rent out vehicles — every booking comes with a licensed driver.
Pay by card when you book, in cash to the driver, or on a monthly invoiced business account. There is no card terminal in the vehicle. More on the pricing and payment methods page; the full list of towns we collect from for Heathrow is on the Heathrow airport transfers page.

We quote every journey before you travel rather than publishing a fare list, because the price depends on the hour, the vehicle your luggage needs, the terminal and whether it is a drop-off or a pick-up. Call 01372 747 747 or the Godalming office on 01483 422 222, or use the online booking form, and you will have the figure before you commit.
About 36 minutes by the M3 when measured, and usually less at 4 or 5 in the morning. On a weekday afternoon or a bank holiday Friday allow considerably longer for the M25 section.
