Driver Application Form

Driver Application Form

If you hold a current private hire driver licence — a PCO licence from Transport for London, or a badge from one of the local authorities we are licensed with — fill in the form below and we will come back to you. If you would rather speak to somebody, call the Epsom office on 01372 747 747.

What to have ready

Four things, and the application is much quicker if you have them in front of you.

  • Your driver badge — and the authority that issued it. This is the first thing we will ask, because in private hire the driver, vehicle and operator licences all have to come from the same authority.
  • Your driving licence details.
  • Your DBS position — the enhanced certificate that came with your badge, and whether it is registered with the DBS Update Service.
  • The vehicle — whether you have a licensed car of your own or rent one from a fleet, and which authority licensed it.

Which authorities we can take

We hold operator licences with seven: Epsom and Ewell, Reigate and Banstead, Mole Valley, Elmbridge, Guildford, Waverley, and Transport for London. If your badge is with one of those, we can put you to work. If it is with a neighbouring authority, ring and ask rather than assuming the answer.

    What happens next

Someone from the office will come back to you about your badge, your vehicle and the sort of work you are after. If you want an answer the same day, the phone is faster than the form — 01372 747 747.

    Not licensed yet?

Get the badge first. Our guide to becoming a taxi driver in the UK sets out the whole process using the published requirements of two of our own licensing authorities, and they differ sharply — one asks for a full driving licence held for twelve months, the other for three years. Worth reading before you spend anything.

Before you apply, it is worth knowing

    • What the work actually is — airport transfers, account and corporate journeys, school contracts, local runs and same-day courier work. See driver recruitment for the detail.
    • How drivers are paid, and what moves the number. Our guide to how taxi drivers get paid explains the mechanics without inventing a salary figure.
    • What your running costs will be. Fuel is the cost you pay every day, so the car matters more than anything — see hybrid taxis in the UK.
