Feltham sits three and a third miles from Heathrow, about nine minutes on Bedfont Road. It also has its own railway station on the Waterloo to Reading line, which makes it one of the few places this close to the airport where the train is a genuine alternative for some journeys and completely wrong for others. Knowing which is which saves money.
This page gives the measured journey, sets the train and the car side by side honestly, explains what decides the price of a booked car, and covers the drop-off charge that belongs to the airport rather than to us.
| Measure | Feltham to Heathrow |
|---|---|
| Road distance | 3.3 miles |
| Free-flowing drive time | about 9 minutes |
| Usual route | Bedfont Road |
| Rail | Feltham station, Waterloo to Reading line — no direct airport service |
| Terminals | all four; Terminal 5 is at the western end of the site |
Nine minutes holds up in the small hours. It does not hold up at eight in the morning, when Bedfont Road and the roads around the southern perimeter carry the airport’s own shift traffic. The terminal changes the job as well: from Feltham, Terminal 4 and Terminal 5 are different approaches, not just different doors.
Feltham station is a real option and it would be dishonest to pretend otherwise. Here is where each one wins.
If you want the general version of that comparison across every journey we run, our guide to what actually decides a taxi price works through it.
Feltham is in the London Borough of Hounslow, so private hire work here sits under Transport for London. Our drivers and vehicles are licensed across seven authorities, Transport for London among them, alongside Epsom and Ewell, Reigate and Banstead, Mole Valley, Elmbridge, Guildford and Waverley. The operator licence is held as Epsom & Ewell Cars T/A Clocktower Cars.
Two practical points follow. We are a private hire operator, so every journey is pre-booked through the office — we cannot be flagged down and we do not work ranks. And because the office takes the booking it sees the whole journey first, so the price is agreed before the car moves rather than discovered when a meter stops.
Nights, very early mornings, Sundays and public holidays cost more to staff. Most Feltham airport work happens before six, which is the expensive end of the day to put a driver on the road.
Four adults with four hold bags and four cabin bags will not go in a saloon. An estate takes four with real boot space; six and eight-seaters take groups. Golf clubs, ski bags, a pushchair, a bike in a box, a dog crate — each one changes which car is sent, so each one needs saying at the booking stage.
On arrivals the pickup is set against the actual landing time, not the scheduled one, and there is a free grace period after landing for immigration and reclaim. Waiting beyond it is chargeable; ask what the period is when you book.
A kerbside pickup and a meet and greet inside the terminal are different bookings. So are Terminal 2 and Terminal 5.
Child seats, step-free access, a wheelchair, a pet, an extra pickup on the way. Cheaper designed in than improvised. Our accessible taxi page covers the ramped vehicles.
Heathrow charges £7 for each entry into a terminal drop-off zone, 24 hours a day, every day of the year, at Terminals 2, 3, 4 and 5. Re-entering triggers the charge again. This is the airport’s charge, not a taxi firm’s, and we tell you when it applies to your journey. Source: Heathrow Airport — drop-off charge.
Blue Badge holders can claim a full discount even when they are not driving, by registering the registration number of the car bringing them. We will give you that number once the car is allocated.
Our cars do not carry card terminals, so bring cash if you have not paid in advance. The pricing and payment methods page sets out the detail.
Three and a third miles by road, about nine minutes on Bedfont Road in free-flowing conditions. In the morning peak the roads around the southern perimeter carry the airport’s shift traffic, so allow longer. Terminal 4 and Terminal 5 are different approaches from Feltham, not just different doors.
It depends on the hour, the terminal, the vehicle your luggage needs and whether waiting or flight tracking is involved, so we quote each journey instead of publishing a figure that would date. Call 01372 747 747 with the flight and the bag count and you will have the price before you book.
For one person with a cabin bag in daylight, usually yes. But there is no direct service from Feltham to the airport, so you change with your luggage, and the first trains do not run early enough for most check-in times. With hold bags, more than one passenger or an early departure, a booked car is the practical choice and often the cheaper one for a group.
Yes, and most of our Feltham airport work is at that hour. It is booked in advance and the pickup is set against your check-in time rather than the nine-minute drive.

Yes. For five to eight people one larger vehicle is usually cheaper than two cars and always simpler at the terminal, because everybody arrives together. Give us the passenger count and the bag count separately and we will confirm what fits.
Our cars do not carry card terminals. Pay by card when you book, by phone or online, or in cash to the driver. Business accounts are invoiced monthly with your own references on each line.
Yes. All three are much longer runs than Heathrow, they all involve the M25, and they need an earlier departure than people expect. They are quoted the same way.
