Terminal 4 is the Heathrow terminal people get wrong, and for a simple reason: it is not in the Central Terminal Area. T2 and T3 face each other in the middle of the airport and T5 sits at the western end. T4 is on the southern side, on its own, with its own approach road and its own loop on the Piccadilly line.
Turn up at the wrong terminal for a T4 flight and it is not a walk — it is a train or a long drive round. This guide covers how to know you are at T4, where cars can actually stop, and two things that changed at Terminal 4 in 2026 that most people have not caught up with.
How to know if you are flying from Terminal 4
T4 has a useful rule, much like Terminal 2 does: Terminal 4 is Heathrow’s SkyTeam home, and the base for a number of Gulf and long-haul carriers.
Airlines using T4 include Air France, KLM, Korean Air, Saudia, China Eastern, China Southern, ITA Airways, Kenya Airways, Vietnam Airlines and TAROM, alongside several Gulf and long-haul operators.
One important exception: not every SkyTeam airline is at T4. Delta, for instance, flies from Terminal 3. So the rule is a good starting point rather than a guarantee — check Heathrow’s own which terminal tool close to travelling, or simply give us your flight number when you book and we will confirm it.
Two things that changed at Terminal 4 in 2026
Terminal 4 is being redeveloped, and two changes in June 2026 affect anyone arriving by car. Neither is widely known yet.
1. The multi-storey car park has closed
The Terminal 4 multi-storey car park closed on 23 June 2026. If you were planning to park there, you cannot.
All passenger parking has moved to Zone A of the Terminal 4 Park & Ride, where up to two hours is free — but only in Zone A. Free shuttle buses run between Zone A and the terminal every five minutes.
2. There is now a Priority Pick-Up area
This is the genuinely useful one, and it makes T4 different from every other Heathrow terminal.
At the other terminals you cannot be collected from the drop-off zone — Heathrow does not permit pick-ups or waiting there at all. Terminal 4 now has a dedicated Priority Pick-Up area outside the arrivals hall, opened 23 June 2026, where collection is allowed and charged by how long you stay:
Every journey is quoted before you travel. The price depends on the distance, the time of day, the vehicle you need and how much luggage is coming with you — call 01372 747 747 or book online and you will have the figure before you commit.
It is reached by following Salisbury Road — from the Terminal 4 roundabout, stay in the two right-hand lanes and follow the signs. Vehicles should not be left unattended, and payment is made online or by phone within 24 hours, not at the barrier.
Charges and arrangements change, so check the Heathrow Terminal 4 changes page before you travel, and ask us how it is handled on your booking.
Dropping off at Terminal 4
Drop-offs continue as normal despite the redevelopment. Blue Badge holders can apply for a 100% discount.
If someone is driving you rather than a taxi, the two free hours in Park & Ride Zone A with a five-minute shuttle is now the cheaper option for anything but the briefest stop.
If you end up at the wrong terminal
T4 is the worst one to get wrong, because nothing about it is walkable from anywhere else.
The Piccadilly line runs a dedicated loop that splits near Hatton Cross, serving Terminal 4 before continuing to Terminals 2 and 3 and then Terminal 5. So the connection exists and it is straightforward — but it is a train journey with a wait, not a ten-minute stroll like T2 to T3.
Allow a good 20 to 30 minutes to move between T4 and the central terminals, and more if you are carrying luggage. Which is the argument for getting the terminal right at the booking stage.
Coming home from Terminal 4
Because T4 now has the Priority Pick-Up area, arrivals here work differently from the rest of Heathrow — and better, if it is arranged in advance.
Give us your flight number when you book the return. We use live flight monitoring, so the pickup adjusts if you land late or early. That matters more at T4 than almost anywhere, because the terminal handles a lot of long-haul where an hour’s variance on arrival is routine — and because pick-up here is charged by the minute band rather than a flat fee, arriving at the right moment is worth real money.
If you would rather your driver met you inside arrivals with a name board than outside, ask for Meet & Greet when you book.
How long to allow from your town
| From | Typical drive to Heathrow |
|---|---|
| Leatherhead | about 31 minutes |
| Fetcham | about 33 minutes |
| Bookham | about 35 minutes |
| North Cheam / Worcester Park | about 35–45 minutes |
| Stoneleigh | about 40 minutes |
| Ewell | about 42 minutes |
| Cheam | about 44 minutes |
| Epsom | about 45–50 minutes |
| Sutton | about 45–50 minutes |
| Belmont | about 47 minutes |
| Carshalton | about 55 minutes |
| Wallington | about 56 minutes |
Driving time only — check-in and security sit on top, and T4’s long-haul desks close earlier relative to departure than a short hop. Because T4 is approached from the southern side rather than through the central terminal area, the last stretch is slightly different from a T2 or T3 run, though the overall time is much the same.
Which vehicle fits your luggage?
| Vehicle | Passengers | Large luggage | Small luggage |
|---|---|---|---|
| Saloon | 4 | 2 | 0 |
| Estate | 4 | 2 | 2 |
| MPV | 5 | 2 | 1 |
| MPV+ | 8 | 5 | 3 |
| Executive | 4 | 2 | 0 |
| Luxury MPV | 7 | 3 | 3 |
| Wheelchair accessible | 3 plus 1 wheelchair | 1 | 0 |
T4 is long-haul territory, so book by the luggage column rather than the passenger column.

Frequently asked questions
Which airlines fly from Heathrow Terminal 4?
Terminal 4 is Heathrow’s SkyTeam home and the base for a number of Gulf and long-haul carriers — Air France, KLM, Korean Air, Saudia, China Eastern, China Southern, ITA Airways, Kenya Airways, Vietnam Airlines and TAROM among them. Not every SkyTeam airline is there, though: Delta flies from Terminal 3. Check before travelling.
Can I be picked up at Heathrow Terminal 4?
Yes — T4 has a dedicated Priority Pick-Up area outside arrivals, which opened on 23 June 2026. This is unusual: at Heathrow’s other terminals pick-ups and waiting are not permitted in the drop-off zones at all.
Is the Terminal 4 car park still open?
No. The Terminal 4 multi-storey car park closed on 23 June 2026 as part of the terminal’s redevelopment. Passenger parking has moved to Zone A of the Terminal 4 Park & Ride, where up to two hours is free and shuttle buses run to the terminal every five minutes.
How much is the Terminal 4 drop-off charge?
Blue Badge holders can apply for a 100% discount.
Can you walk from Terminal 4 to Terminals 2 and 3?
No. Terminal 4 is on the southern side of the airport, separate from the Central Terminal Area. The Piccadilly line runs a loop that splits near Hatton Cross and serves T4 before the other terminals. Allow 20 to 30 minutes to move between them, more with luggage.
How long is a taxi from Epsom to Heathrow Terminal 4?
Around 45 to 50 minutes on a clear road. Add time for rush hour and for long-haul check-in, which closes earlier relative to departure than short-haul.
